This pocket wheel is used to help diagnose patients with Intrauterine Inflammation or Infection or both, abbreviated as “Triple I”. Using the defined characteristics of patients, you’ll be able to pull this pocket wheel out and walk through the 6 colored circles to help you define and diagnose each condition with treatment recommendations. Using the Wheel: Starting centrally, this wheel has 3 sectors (Isolated Fever, Suspected Triple I, Confirmed Triple I) and 5 other colored circles as you work your way outward in your assessment. The descriptions about each colored circle from inner most circle to outermost are:
White Central Sector Circle: Start with this circle. Features of each are described for you to begin your assessment for Isolated Fever, Suspected and Confirmed Triple I.
Blue Circle: Gestational ages.
Green Circle: Clinical status of the infant (Well appearing and Not Well appearing).
Yellow Circle: Management of the infant including observe, evaluate and work up ± treat infant depending upon clinical wellness status.
Orange Circle: Placental pathology categories labeled as A+/B+/C+ and A-/B-/C-. See abbreviation section for full description of each category.
Red Circle: Possible duration of treatment based on all criteria.
The wheel has 6 circles that are all color coded for easy reading. Start at the center circle and move outward as you assess the patient and each condition.
